RUSH FOR PETROL

There has been a great increase in business at petrol stations in Auckland during the past few days, chiefly through buying by holders of commercial and special licenses, in an endeavour to exhaust the quantities allocated to them in February under the ration scheme. Pointing out that this buying of quantities not actually needed in February defeats the intention of the scheme to conserve petrol so as to save dollar exchange for the purchase of war materials, oil fuel control officers state that the failure to use licenses to the full extent will not prejudice the holder in any way in subsequent allocations.
