SWIMMING CARNIVAL SMALE’S CHAMPIONSHIP KEEN COMPETITION The Gisborne High School's annual swimming sports were conducted yesterday afternoon in the school bath and much interest was taken in the fortune of the competitors in the championship events. The championship results arc as follows: —Boys.—Senior Championship. B. Smale, 18 points, 1; P. Hamilton, 10 points, 2. Junior Championship: P. Henderson, 12 points, 1; W. Wathey, 5 points, 2. Girls.—Senior Championship: H. Tamm, 12 points, 1; E. Clark, 7 points, 2. Junior Championship: P. W.ckens. 11 points. 1; A. Shields, 7 points, 2.

In the 6(5 2-3yds boys’ breaststroke championship I. McCallum clipped 3 l-ssec. from the record established by S. Langridge in 1935, the new time being lmin. 3 2-ssec. The organisation of the carnival was carried out by members of the school ; staff, and they were indebted to Messrs A. H. De Costa and W. D. Armstrong for acting as judges of the diving competitions.
