MINISTERS RESIGN

CEYLON STATE COUNCIL DISPUTE WITH POLICE (Reed. Feb. 29, 9 a.m.) COLOMBO, Feb. 28. All six State Council Ministers have resigned as a protest against the action of the Governor of Ceylon, Sir Andrew Caldecott, in supporting the Police Inspector, P. N. Banks, who refused to carry out an instruction by the Home Minister, Sir Don Baron Jayatelaka, to postpone the trial of the leader of a riot on an up-country estate. The Home Minister pomplained that Inspector Banks was insubordinate and refused to postpone the trial. The Ministers maintain that the question goes to the root of the constitution.
