CRICKET CONTROL
P.B. ASSOCIATION DRAW FOR SATURDAY Matters concerning cricket in Gisborne were discussed yesterday afternoon at the weekly meeting of the management committee of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association. There were present Messrs. G. A. Revell, chairman, P. H. Dow, ft. H. Cook, E. Judge. E. H. Bilham, G. Hookham, A. E. Bignell, and the hon. secretary, Mr. D. A. Wells. A File Shield challenge match will be played on March 10 between a team representing the combined banks and the holders, Nomads. A letter from the Wairoa Cricket Association expressed its appreciation for the hospitality that had been extended to its team in a recent fixture in Gisborne, and trusted that the return match in Wairoa on March 1 10 would prove as enjoyable. The manager of the Poverty Bay Kirk Cup team, Mr. Wells, reported on the recent visit to Napier. The tour had been enjoyable and the team had greatly appreciated the hospitality of the Napier hosts. Two prominent former Gisborne players, Messrs. H. F. Forster and C. Halliday, now resident in Napier, extended their regards to players in this district. Members of teams were reminded to leave their cricket scorebooks at Le Grand Cafe each afternoon after the close of play. The draw for Saturday is as follows: — Senior B Grade. —United B v. City, Oval representative wicket; Gisborne Club v. G.H.5.0.8. White, Oval No. 4; High School B v. Civil Service, High School bath wicket; High School A v. Marist, Rectory wicket; United A v. G.H.5.0.8. Blue, Oval No. 1. Junior Grade.—High School A v. High School B, third bath wicket! Rectory v. Marist, High School concrete wicket.
