BIG SHARK CAUGHT

DOCTOR’S LONG FIGHT : SYDNEY, Dec. 28. Fishing from a launch off Palm 1 Beach yesterday, Dr. D. G. Maitland, of Macquarie street, landed a 3901 b. 1 bronze whaler shark on a 15-thread line. He was fishing with rod and reel i about two miles off shore. The fight ’ lasted wo two and a half hours. Dr. Maitland last month established 1 an Australian record for game fishing by landing a mako shark of 2361 b. on t a 15-thread line, which has a breaking c stjain of 321 b. The Dronze whaler shark is not classified as a game fish. A number of sharks were captured ‘ by fishermen off Palm Beach during the holidays. j
