FIGURES IN BRITAIN STILL OVER MILLION (British Official Wireless.l Reed. 1.50 p.m. RUGBY, Jan. 8. A further reduction in unemployment is recorded in an announcement made by the Minister of Labour which states that at December 11 the numbers of unemployed persons on the registers of the employment exchanges in Britain, including those wholly unemployed, temporarily stopped and normally in casual employment, totalled 1,361,525, of whom 897,984 were men.

The total was 41,063 less than the number on the registers at November 13 and 469,847 less than at December 12, 1938.
