Three Men On Drunkenness Charges.

Three men were dealt with this morning by Mr. E. L. Walton, S.M., in the Police Court on charges of drunkenness, including one who was before the court for the second time on a similar charge within the past six months. The last-mentioned offender was Alfred Benedict Augustine Nixon, aged 43, a labourer, Tolagn Bay, who was convicted and discharged after it was learned that he had been, in the lock-up since Saturday. A first offender, who did not appear, was convicted and ordered to forfeit the amount of his bail 10s. The other first offender who also had been in the lock-up since Saturday afternoon, was convicted and discharged, Senior-Sergeant J. F. H. Macnamara saying, however, that that man was addicted to drinking methylated spirits. He had work to go to and would not be in town.
