QUAKE AND FLOOD SNOWBOUND VILLAGES EFFORTS AT SUCCOUR SOLDIERS IN BLIZZARD RELIEF TRAIN HELD UP (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Jan. 8, 3 p.m.) ISTANBUL, Jan. 7. Thousands of soldiers are making their way in snowdrifts across the blizzard-swept Anatolian plateau in a desperate effort to succour the inhabitants of a score of villages which were isolated by the earthquake. The remote town of Erba is frantically telegraphing for help as the occupants are dying of hunger and exposure. An American relief train is snowbound 20 miles distant. Further tremors shook Sivas, Yozgat and Bermama, causing havoc in the huddled settlements.
The flood damage is increasing at Manisa. Odemisa, Menemen and Bergma. A regular migration is proceeding from the .shambled areas. Two thousand destitute people from Bursa are going inland. Typhoid is raging in remote regions to which it is impossible to get medical supplies. An entire mountain subsided in the coastal region.
