ROYAL EXAMPLE

RATIONING IN BRITAIN QUEEN’S SPECIAL MENUS (Reed. Jan. 9, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 8. The rationing ci butter, bacon, ham, eggs, and sugar starts to-day. The King has requested that Royal rationing should be as strict as possible. The Queen has drawn up special menus eliminating two courses from luncheon and dinner, in order to use more fruit and vegetables. The Minister of Food, Mr. W. S. Morrison, said that neither U-boats nor mines nor German piracy had compelled us to ration. The scheme had been worked out before the war. Reserves of the main foodstuffs had been accumulated as a matter of sheer prudence.
