SUNDAY FOOTBALL
POSITION IN AUSTRALIA The New South Wales Soccer Commission will not permit any of its S2OO players to take part in Sunday competition games during the 1940 season. Tho commission lias forwarded to the New South Wales Association a recommendation "That all players taking part in Sunday football bo suspended from playing in Saturday games.” Last season several . inter-district competition games were played on Sundays, although some of the affiliated associations refused to play on any other day than Saturday. According to Mr. T. Percy, secretary of the Newcastle District Soccer Association, leading State League players were tho backbone of competitive Sunday football in the Newcastle district. "The appearance of international players in Sunday games was primarily the reason of smaller attendances at Saturday matches” said Mr. Percy. “ People stay away from the State League and Newcastle Association games on Saturdays, because they know they can see their favourites play on Sunday.”
