NAZI ADMISSIONS
j TRAPS OF BRITISH | MORE SHIPS ATTACKED NEUTRALS MISSING FATE OF TRAWLERS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Jan. 5, noon.) LONDON, Jan. 3. Authorised quarters in. Berlin state that British submarine traps, namely armed merchant and fishing vessels, sank two German submarines. This is the first German admission of submarine losses. A U-boat torpedoed the Swedish ship Svarton, of 2369 tons, off the north Scottish coast. Twenty members of the crew are missing. A lifeboat picked up 11 others from a raft. It is reported from Paris that another Swedish vessel, the Kiruna, of 5485 tons, is sending out SOS calls stating that she is sinking slowly 500 miles north of the Azores after a submarine attack. The Aberdeen trawler, Danedin, is feared to have been lost. It was last seen at the fishing grounds which the Nazis bombed on December 19. Body and Wreckage The discovery of a fisherman’s body and wreckage suggests that the trawler Young Harry was blown up off the south coast with the loss of the crew of four, including father and son. The trawler has been missing since before dawn, when explosions were heard in its vicinity. Fifteen survivors of the steamer Larsmagnus Trozelli have arrived at Bergen. They say the vessel was torpedoed without warning, 20 miles from Blyth. Seven of the crew were killed.
A Tallinn report states that the Agu, with a crew of 18, is believed to have been mined in the North Sea. She has not been reported since December 3.
