WAIOEKA NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) Farmers are taking advantage of the hot days to proceed with haymaking. The unsettled weather during November considerably delayed shearing operations, hut most of the sheds iiave finished now. The weather has been suitable for fishing, and numbers of visiting anglers have tried out most of the streams, with gratifying results. Dr. E. Ewart Brown, Gisborne was a visiting angler, and camped at Wairata.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stenner, Gisborne, were the guests of Mrs. R. Lowden, Oponae, for the Christmas and New Year holidays.—Mr. A. C. Nicholson, Otoko, Mr. L. .Brown, Gisborne, Misses P. Nicholson and Powell, of the Opotiki Hospital, were holiday visitors to Mrs. A. J. Macrae, Oponae. —Mr. Alan Gellert, Wairata, has been visiting Gisborne and the Coast, where he was the guest of his brother, Mr. Mister Gellert—Mrs. L. Rhodes. Gisborne, is the guest of tier sister, Mrs. F. Mead, Wairata. Mr. J. Donnelly suffered a painful accident while cranking a truck. The engine back-fired, with the result' that Mr. Donnelly suffered a broken wrist. The sufferer was conveyed to the Opotiki Hospital.
