WOOLSHED DANCE ENJOYABLE FUNCTION (Herald Correspondent.) Recently Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Reed entertained a number of friends at a most enjoyable woolshed dance in honour of Miss S. Twisleton and Mr. G. Phillips, who are to be married this week-end. The woolshed had been gaily decorated with ferns and coloured streamers and the floor was excellent. A happy time was spent playing games and dancing, the music being supplied by Miss Una Reed and Mr. H. A. Neilson. A delicious supper was served buffet style, after which the bride-to-be, assisted by her prospective bridesmaids, Misses M. Brown and P. and J. Twisleton, opened the numerous parcels, which revealed a variety of beautiful and useful gifts. Mr. Phillips thanked Mr. and Mrs. Reed and those present for their kindness. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Pierce held a delightful tennis party at their home last week-end. The day was ideal for tennis, "and luncheon and afternoon tea were served on the wide verandahs.

On Wednesday afternoon Mrs. N. G. Nisbett entertained a number of friends at a “bathroom” gift afternoon in honour of Miss Sheila Twisleton, who is to be married this week-end.
The party was held out of doors and a most enjoyable time was spent, competitions being won by Mrs. F. W. Peddle and Miss P. Read.
After a dainty afternoon tea had been served, the guest of honour, assisted by her prospective bridesmaids, opened the numerous parcels', which contained a varied assortment of useful gifts. In a short speech Miss Twisleton thanked her friends for their kindness.
Mrs. Nisbett received her guests wearing a smart frock of black and white figured silk, and the guest of honour chose a frock of pink floral novelty chepe. Those present were Mesdarhes C. Read. Tennis Party at “Ibsley” On New Year's Day, Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Boys held a jolly tennis party at their home, “Ibsley,” Motu. The day was beautifully sunny, and many fast sets were played. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Piercey Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Nisbett, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Neilson; Misses J. and D. Boys, U. Reed, M. and B. Fisher; Messrs. R. S': and D. Fisher, W. H. Boys, J. Slade, J. Anderson and S. Davis. The rainfall for December, 1939, was 3.91 in., rain falling on 11 days. The total rainfall for the year was '53.49in., compared with 77.35 in. for 1938. Mrs. C. V. Brown arid Miss Belle Brown, Morrinsville, and Miss M. Brown, Auckland, are'visiting Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Twisleton, Marumoko.— Lieut. G. Slade, Messrs. J. Slade and J. Anderson, Wellington, and Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Neilson, Gisborne, spent the New Year holidays with Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Reed.—Mr. L. Renner, Gisborne, was a recent guest or Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Pierce.—Mr. G. Easter, Cambridge, was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Twisleton.—Mr. and Mrs. A. Bartie and Mr. and Mrs. C. Stocker, Gisborne,-spent the week-end as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. Bartie, Waitangirua.
