SALE or SHEEPSKINS MARKETING OF MEAT NEW SEASON'S PRICES A meeting of the Poverty Bay provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union was held yesterday afternoon, when there were present Messrs. J. E. Benson, president, C. Cooper, R, D. Dymock. R. F. Holden, S. Bridge, R. W. Coop, H. J. Lougher, T. W. Sewell, T. R, Jones, F. C. Charteris. R. C. Craig, D. J, dimming, E. U. Richardson. W. T. Veitcli and T. J. Foster.
Mr. S. D, Reeves, a Gisborne representative on the Meat Board’s electoral committee, gave a review of the meeting of the committee and said that the remit to revise the grading of meat was defeated, but a representative of the Meat Board was to be sent Home to investigate the grading methods there. On 'he sale of meat during the current season. Mr. Reeves said he hid no information, but he advised producers not to commit themselves yet to any sales until the Government’s intentions were announced. Mr. R. W. Coop: Then we are going to get a good price? Mr. Reeves: I do not know, but I give you that advice for what it is worth.
The secretary, Mr. C. Blackburn, reported that there was a belief widespread among farmers that the sale of sheepskins by farmers to fellmongers or dealers was prohibited, but this was not so, and buying was being continued as usual.
