ANTI-TANK CORPS TRAINING IN ENGLAND CHEERS FOR ROYALTY VISIT TO N.Z. HOUSE (Reed. Oct. 20, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 19. A * New Zealand anti-tank unit, Number 140, is to go into camp “somewhere in England,” on T cl °' jei 26 Under the command of Major C. J. Duff, who before the war was the New Zealand liaison officer with the War Office. The officers include Lieutenants J, H. Hall-Kenny, B. B. Patterson, and 3. Blow. The rankers include Ormond Wilson, a former Labour member for Manawatu. The unit is to train separately, buv will be attached to the British training centre for administration purposes. Uniforms and equipment are being drawn from the British Ordnance. Consequently there will be no distinctive headgear. A crowd in the Strand was surprised to see the Royal car halt at New Zealand House and the King and Queen alight without ceremony. The crowd heartily cheered as Their Majesties entered the sand-bagged doorway, where they were received by the High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan and Mrs. Jordan. Their Majesties were keenly interested in the work of the various departments under wartime conditions.
They afterwards visited India House.
