United Kingdom Mails Surface mails for the United Kingdom will close at the Chief Post Office, Greymouth, on Saturday at noon and on October 12 at 5.30 p.m. Inward surface mails from the United Kingdom are due at Greymouth on Saturday (ex Karamea), and on October 13 (ex Rangitiki).

Electricity At Maruia A Gazette notice authorises Sarah Theresa Morris, chateau proprietress, Maruia Hot Springs, to use water from Waterfall Creek for the purposes of generating electricity and to erect certain power lines. This is to supply additional electric power to the hostel, which generates its own electricity, the capacity of the pi esent plant being rated at 13 K.W.

Whether work can be resumed at the mine tomorrow depends upon weather conditions at Greymouth late this afternoon and this evening, as uninterrupted work on the loading of the Omana at the Greymouth wharf will be necessary to release sufficient hoppers to provide Blackball with a full allocation tomorrow. Just arrived at the Albion Hotel—a special line of Hospital Brandy, 35/per quart bottle. This is a special reserve brandy, and is recommended for invalids.
