REEFTON SPLENDID DISPLAY OF SPRING FLOWERS

REEFTON, This Day (0.C.)— -The annual St. Stephen’s springflower show, held in the Gymnasium Hall on Saturday drew a large entry of highclass flowers. The major trophy of the show, the Wicke Cup, was won by Miss Craig (Matai) who was also the exhibitor of the champion bloom of the show. ~ The recent spell of good weather had done much to bring out S°h°quality blooms, and this was reflected in the display, which was one of the largest for many years. MINING EXAMINATIONS Examinations for first class and second class coal mine managers’, under the Coal Mines Act, are to be held this week. A number of candidates from the Reefton School of Mines will sit both at the Reefton and Greymouth examination centres. MONTH'S RAINFALL September was a dry month at Reefton, there being only 11 “ram 7 days,” for a total fall of 4.20 inches. Of this total, 1.50 inches fell on one day, September 3.
