RETAILERS SEEK EXCHANGE RATE READJUSTMENT
SYDNEY, This Day (Rec. 11 a.m.). The Autralian Council of Retail Traders has urged the Commonwealth Government to appreciate the Australian pound immediately. The president, Mr Ashley Buckingham, said the council took this action despite the immediate depreciation which would take place in the value of a large quantity of imported stock held by the distributive industry. The trade feels that the need to restore purchasing power to the community is of paramount importance, he said. ______
