INDOOR BASKETBALL GREYMOUTH TEAM BOBCATS, WINS CHAMPION TITLE

The leading Greymouth team, Bobcats, won the Blackmore Cup in a champion-of-champions tourney at Greymouth last evening. Bobcats appeared the superior team in both matches, against Brunner and Hokitika, winning 20-11 and 25-9. In the women’s championship, the Hokitika team, Riffs, won the Premier Cup. On the whole the matches were not up to the standard expected of champion club teams, and a better type of basketball was played by teams taking part in non-competition matches. In the men’s section, the games were married by infringements and rough P la yThe Greymouth women s team, Comets, appeared to take the Brunner representatives too lightly and lost the game by a penalty goal in the last minute of play. Had Brunner been able to shoot goals accurately they would have won the final. Hokitika, although playing one short, displayed fine defence and positional play to take the title. Scores were: —Men: Greymouth 20 v Hokitika 11; Greymouth 25 v Brunner 9. Women: Brunner 18 v Greymouth 17; Hokitika 18 v Brunner 13. Results of friendly matches were: Zipps (Hokitika) 20 v A.T.C. (Greymouth) 16; Revingtons (Greymouth) 14 v Rovers (Hokitika) 10; Togs 28 v Olympians (Hokitika) nil.
