MATAI DREDGING PLAN: MINISTERS AGAIN APPROACHED

Further representations were made to the Government this week in connection with the proposal to dredge land at Matai. An early decision is now' expected on the proposal. Representing the Ngahere Gold Dredging Coy, Mr T. Blackie, with Mr J. Ryall M.L.C., approached the Minister of Mines, Mr W. Sullivan, and the Minister of Lands, Mr E. B. Corbett, at Wellington this week, when the dredging proposals were examined again. No decision has been announced, but it is expected that the- final view of the Government will be made known shortly. It is now more than a year since efforts were commenced to obtain approval for proposals to take the Ngahere dredge from its present site at Atarau to the opposite side of the Grey river at Matai.
