AUSTRALIAN CRICKET TEAM HAS EASY WIN IN SOUTH AFRICA
JOHANNESBURG, November 7 (Rec. 11 a.m.)'.—Australia defeated North-eastern Transvaal by 10 wickets, ending the game in two days. 'Australia’s batting emerged from the match looking powerful, but the bowling was patchy and lacked penetration at times today. Funston, a promising young batsman, and Edwards added 109 for the fifth wicket in a plucky stand that exposed the limitations of the present Australian attack. Australia declared its first innings closed at four for 331 after Hassett and Harvey had each scored 100. This pail' added 179 for the third wicket in 106 minutes. Australia’s runs were made in 200 minutes. North-eastern Transvaal’s second innings ended at 214 and Australia secured the necessary 19 runs for victory without loss.
