Indian Government Takes Over Manipur

NEW DELHI, October 3 (Rec. 9.40 a.m.). —The Indian Government announced tonight that it will take over the strategic Indo-Burmese border princedom of Manipur on October 15, states the Associated Press. Maharajah Bodh Chandra Singh thus joins the other 600 princely pensioners of India, whose States have been integrated with the rest of the country. Manipur, which is 8700 square miles in area, has a population of 500,000. It figured prominently in the Japanese invasion during the war. ■
