AUSTRALIAN PETROL “HOGS”: STOCKS MAY BE SEIZED

MELBOURNE, This Day (Rec. 11 a.m.). —A conference of State Premiers will today consider the seizure cf hoarded, petrol stocks, said the Premier, Mr Holl way. He said the State Governments believed that “petrol hogs” were hoarding large stocks of petrol in anticipation of the reimposition of petrol rationing. The Victorian State Minister said the conference would probably agree to a ticket rationing scheme which the Commonwealth would administer and finance. Under the scheme motorists would probably get ten percent. less petrol than under the previous scheme. The controls would probably operate from November 1. All the State Governments, except Victoria, have agreed to the transfer of their rationing powers to the Commonwealth Government. Victoria proposes to administer its own rationing parallel with the Commonwealth scheme, but will not transfer its powers.
