LARGE AREA OF VIENNA SWEPT BY DISASTROUS FIRE
VIENNA, September 25 (Rec. 1 p.m.).—Thirty-one fire brigades fought for three and a half hours today to put out a fire which swept an area of a third of a square mile near Reich’s bridge spanning the Danube in the Soviet sector. . . The fire broke out in a municipal bus garage and spread quickly to seven blocks of buildings, among them the wooden buildings of the Siemens Schuckert works and nearly 10,000 cubic feet of stored timber. The British-owned Bunzl and Birch paper works were among the buildings destroyed.
