SPECIAL TRAINING COURSE FOR STUDENT TEACHERS

AUCKLAND, This Day (P.A.).—One hundred and twenty-five student teachers will enter Auckland and Ardmore Training Colleges next Monday to begin a special 46 weeks' course. They enrolled following an appeal by the Minister of Education, Mr McCombs, for students under the emergency training ’scheme. Auckland College lakes 36 men and 26 women and Ardmore 28 .men and 35 women. ' After finishing the course they will teach for one year as probationary assistants, and will then be issued with teachers’ certificates. A large proportion of the men are marked and some women students also. ‘ Special-course students will assist considerably in meeting the shortage of teachers. Auckland Training College next year will have a roll of 766 students.
