N.Z. CROQUET TEAM TO LEAVE FOR AUSTRALIA SHORTLY
WELLINGTON, This Day (P.A.) .— The largest party of croquet players ever to leave New Zealand for Australia will sail on the Monowai from Wellington on August 12, en route to Brisbane, where the inter-State championships will commence on September 5. There will be representatives from all the Australian States and New Zealand. A tournament will follow the test matches.
The president of the New Zealand Croquet Council, Mr W. H. Kirk, is manager of the party, which includes Mesdames W. McKendrick, O. Paykel, C. T. Wadsworth (Auckland), Mr and Mrs R. Campbell, Mr F. Wedd, Mesdames W. W. Fox, M. Moses, A. P. Norman, L. Stockdale. E. Travis, B .A. Were, Miss F. Collinson (Christchurch), Mrs B. Rhodes (Dunedin), Mr and Mrs F. Flavall, Mrs L. Langford Miss E. Futter (Manawatu), Mr and Mrs R. W. McCreath (Gore), Mr and Mrs W. H. Kirk, Miss R. p. Kirk (Geraldine), Mrs L. Parkin, Miss D. McKenzie (Hutt), Mrs D. Currin (Linton), Mrs M. Griffen (Matamata), Mr and Mrs W. H. Speer (Rotorua), Mesdames S. Crawford, M. Glover (Te Aroha), Mr and Mrs G. Rowling, Mrs E. D. Harman (Nelson), Mr E. Managh. Mesdames I. M. Cadwallader, J. Wilson Wellington), Mesdames J. A. Davies, T. Moynihan, A. Nottle (Westport). G Rowling is the holder of the South Island open championship, W. H. Kirk the South Island meifis championship and Mrs W. H. Kirk, the South Island women’s championship.
