He is to be known in future as Dorman O’Gowan, because O’Gowan was the ancient name of his Irish family. He was Director of Military Training in India and is a brother of Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith, ex-Gover-nor of Burma. ■ The brigadier, who lives at Bellamount Forest, in the Eire border county of Cavan, has denounced partition. He said: “My change of name has no political meaning. It has been a subject of discussion for many years. “In days of political pressure our name was changed from O’Gowan. Now, as head of the family, I am reassuming it.” —The Seeker
