FALLEN TREE CUTS OFF INTER-ISLAND TELEGRAPH LINES

WELLINGTON, This Day (P.A.).— One fallen tree in Marlborough this morning put out of action 35 telephone circuits by cable, two by radio and 23 telegraph circuits by cable —a total of 60. Consequently, all telephone, telegraph and radio telephone communication between the North and South Islands was “lost.” The tree fell across the whole line between Blind River and Seddon, breaking all aerial wires. The circuits were soon restored.
