ROYAL N.Z. AERO CLUB ASKS FOR GOVERNMENT AID

WELLINGTON, May 20 <P.A) .—The Roval New Zealand Aero Club, at its annual meeting, decided to press again upon the Government the necessity oi giving more financial assistance to aero clubs, and also decided to ask the Government to implement tne Tvmms report to enable clubs to replace training aircraft, as they became obsolete, with approved training types A Hawke’s Bay and East Coast remit urged that where any club was called upon to join in a search for an aircraft reported by flying control as overdue, compensation at an agreed rate oe paid to such club by the Air Department and that representations be made to obtain Cabinet authority for such payment. This was approved. An Auckland ' remit requested the Royal Club to consider the advisability of holding a conference at least once a year of all club instructors, to discuss means of advancing flying in New Zealand, the conference to be organised by the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The remit was carried. The official Royal New Zealand Aero Club pageant for 1950 was allocated to the West Coast United Aero Club, Westport, and will be held on the Kakatere aerodrome. The Canterbury Aero Club was granted the honour of holding the 1951 pageant at Harewood aerodrome. Officers were elected as follows:— Patron, the Governor-General (Sir Bernard Freyberg); president, Mr H. D. Christie; vice-presidents, Messrs N. McLaren (Nelson) and N. R. Bain (Wanganui); secretary and treasurer, Mr R. G. Bannister; auditor, Mr I. D. Reid; council, Dr W. F. Buist, Messrs N. R. Bain, R. D. Brown, F. Butler, H. D. Christie, J. E. Crockett, J. R. Franklin, D. M. Furniss, D. G. Gemmill, E. A. Heyder, F. Jones, P. J. King, A. V, Longman, H. W. Lightband, n. m. McLaren, A. W. McGill. J. W. T. Morrison, I. H. Penrose, I. L. Prime, G. C.
