Five hundred Italian women were listening to a Communist making a speech in a theatre at Pisa.
“Look at what great, motherly, benevolent Russia is doing,” he said, pointing dramatically into the air.
At this point doves bearing olive branches were supposed to fly up. Instead, a big, grey rat scampered along the balcony and jumped into the audience. The Communist found himself alone.
