Murphy, of Christchurch, will arrive tomorrow, for temporary duties in the Runanga parish. Mr R. R. Harris, chief draughtsman in the Land and Survey Department at Hokitika left yesterday on transfer to Wellington. He was accompanied by Mrs Harris. Vice-Admiral Sir Victor Crutqhley, VC, K.C.8., D. 5.0., has been promoted to the full rank of admiral on his retirement from the Royal Navy. As a lieutenant at Ostend in 1918 and as a captain at Narvik in 1940 he took a brilliant part in two most courageous naval operations. Admiral Crutchiey served in New Zealand as captain of the cruiser Diomede from 1930 to T 33, performing conspicuous work in ommand of the naval rescue and salvage parties landed at Napier after, the earthquake of 1931.—(P.A.)
