BOXING JOE LOUIS AND WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE

NEW YORK, March 8.

Joe Louis failed today to obtain recognition from the New York State Athlqtic Commission, for the proposed world heavy-weight title fight between Ezzard Charles and Joe Walcott.

After a conference with Mr Eddie Eagan, the chairman of the commission, Louis said that he had bee'n told that the commission would refuse to recognise one man being designated ■ champion with out surviving an elimination series.

Louis has already obtained permission from the National Boxing Association to describe the CharlesWalcott fight as a world title bout. The National Boxing Association controls boxing throughout the United States except New York State.
