Reputation Of French Surete Suffers
(Rec. 9 a.m.) PARIS, February 24. The reputation of the famous French Surete Nationale, which is almost as legendary as that of Scotland Yard, is suffering. About two months ago, thieves, in a daring daylight hold-up, took about 5,000,000 francs (about £5000) from the Financial Bureau of the organisation.
Yesterday an unnamed employee of the Finance Bureau absconded with 4,000,000 more francs.
