OVER 40 DEAD IN VOLCANO ERUPTION
(Rec 1 p.m.) SANTIAGO, October 19. At least 40 are dead and 200 missing as a result of the eruption of the Villarica volcano, 400 miles south of Santiago yesterday. Many of the victims were drowned as the flow of lava and overheated air brought a sudden thaw of the snows on the mountainside.
