Wife of Buchenwald Commandant President Truman has asked the United States Secretary of the Army (Mr Kenneth Royall) for a complete report on the case of Use Koch, “The Belle of Buchenwald,” whose sentence of life imprisonment was recently reduced to four years by the Army Review Board. Congressmen and several veterans’ organisations have protested against the reduction of the sentence on Koch, who was the wife of the Nazi commandant of the notorious Buchenwald concentration camp. Army officials say that lampshades alleged to have been made from tattooed human skin by Use Kosh have been found and will be turned over to the Senate committee which has been investigating the case.—Washington, October 18.
