Cut Down 147 Trees
The Yorkshire Post reports that 200 children, who were armed with saws and axes, demolished the wood land m the Wombell Miners’ Welfare Park. They did this after a passer-by. iokingly, told a few of the children. “Take the lot!” He said this when they asked him if they could have some of the wood for a bonfire. In one hour the children felled 147 trees. One group of them used a pony to move the wood. —London, October 18.
