(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Painters and carpenters employed by the Wellington City Council decided on stop-work action after a secret ballot at a meeting last evenin 2Dissatisfaction was expressed at the position of painters and carpenters relative to other skilled council employees, and at the failure of their claims for increased rates of pay.
The secretary of the Wellington Painters’ Union, Mr R. Adams, said the engineers’ rates were 4s an hour, compared with 3s 7d received by the painters and carpenters.
