Mr J. Abel, of Wellington, has been elected president and Mr C. B. Myhre, of Christchurch, vice-president of the New Zealand Garment Manufacturers Federation. —(P.A.) The Poverty Bay Rugby Union has decided to nominate Mr L. V. Carmine, cf Wellington, as manager and Mr V. G. Cavanagh, of Dunedin, as assistant manager of the All Blacks.—(P.A.) The death occurred at Christchurch last week of Mrs Ethel May King, wife of Mr Hugh King, formerly of Greymouth. Mrs King had been in illhealth for some time. She is survived by her husband. , _ m The appointment of Colonel D. T. Maxwell, 0.8. E., as New Zealand military liaison officer in Melbourne in succession to Colonel C. S. J. Duff, D. 5.0., has been announced by the Minister of Defence (Mr F. Jones). Since his return last year from Japan, where he was commander of the British Commonwealth sub-area in Tokyo, Colonel Maxwell has been commander of Area 5, Wellington.
