LAWN TENNIS NEW ZEALAND MADE SMALL PROFIT ON DAVIS CUP TOUR
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Advice has been received from England- that accouhts of the 1947 Davis Cup match, New Zealand versus Czechoslovakia', have been completed, and that a small credit will accrue to New Zealand, it was? reported at this week’s meeting- of the executive of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association.
In connection with the tour of the New South Wales team in February next, the secretary advised that all associations had been asked to submit applications and to give the extent of their facilities. The junior committee was asked to report fully on the possibilities of sending a junior team to Australia as part of the association’s proposed three-year plan. A letter from the Auckland Association sought support for tennis to be included in the Empire Games at Auckland in 1950. ' ‘ The secretary reported that although application for affiliation had been made to the New Zealand Olympic and Empire Games Association some time ago, no reply had yet been received. The chairman of the Olympic and Empire Games Association, Mr A. D. Bayfeild, in an interview today, said that owing 91 to pressure of business his committee was unable to deal with the lawn tennis application at its last meeting, but that the tennis and other applications for inclusion in. the games would be considered at a meeting jn the near future.
