ECHO OF EMPIRE GAMES DECISION
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Defence of the action of the president of the Wellington Bowling Centre, Mr W. F. Hadwin in his attitude in favouring Auckland for the Empire Games, was expressed in a letter read last night to the Wellington Bowling Centre. The chairman of the New Zealand Olympic Committee, Mr A. D. Bayfield, said that in fairness to the executive of the New Zealand Olympic and British Empire Games and as its chairman the charges from Canterbury that the claims of the provincial centenary had been brushed aside, that there had been lobbying by Auckland and that there had been definite bias by some members of the executive, must be said to be unfounded. It followed also, said the letter, that the motion of no-confi-dence in Mr Hadwin reported as having been passed by the Christchurch Bowling Centre was unfair, and Mr Bayfield wrote that he very much regretted the impression created by the motion.
