Church Union Proposal
. ...The following official. statement on' Church union, was made at. Dunedin i by the Assembly of the Congregational Union of New Zealand yesterday. “It was reported to the Assembly of the Congregational Union of New Zealand .at Dunedin that the decision of churches on the proposed basis of, union had resulted in an equal number of churches being for and against | the basis. Besides these two churches ■ were in favour of the basis with amendments, and one church had not; yet voted. In accordance with Con-, gregational principles, voting wasj effected by church meetings of the constituent churches.- The. assembly decided to reappoint the church union committee with instructions to review and study the decisions of the' churches and to continue discussions, with representatives of the Presby- • terian and Methodist Churches and report to the next Assembly.”— (P.A.)
