EFFORT TO END DEADLOCK ON ATOMIC ENERGY

Colonel Hodgson (Australia), in an effort to end the Russian-Western majority deadlock on the atomic question, suggested that the General Assembly should ask the Atomic Energy Commission to intensify its study of the situation. Colonel Hodgson, in the Political Committee, said this should be done with a view, firstly, to resolving the differences in principles; secondly, producing a plan of , organisational structure, staffing and finance for the international agency; thirdly, preparing a draft convention for the utilisation of atomic energy for purely beneficial purposes; fourthly, reporting back to the Assembly with the utmost expedition.
