MR BOSWELL IS AMONG LUCKY NEW ZEALANDERS
[SPECIAL TO STAR) WELLINGTON, This Day. Today’s luckiest New Zealanders are the Minister to Moscow (Mr Bos-, well) and the High Commissioner in Australia (Mr Barclay), both of whom will benefit quite substantially from the alteration of the exchange rati-. From now on. Mr Boswell's income will be up by some GOOD roubles, which, even in the Russian language, is very acceptable. According to the Estimates presented in the House of Representatives on Thursday night, both Mr Boswell and Mr Barclay receive £l5OO a year, or £5OO less than, the Minister in Washington. With the addition of 20 per cent, to his salary as a result of the appreciation of the New Zealand pound, Mr Boswell’s salary now becomes £lBOO, and, if he receives a portion of the amount of £6297 in the Estimates for location allowances, it is just possible that, in “real wages” he will be receiving considerably more than “the rate for the job.”
