CROWD ATTACKS COMMUNISTS AT AMERICAN MEETING
(Rec. 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, Aifg. 16. When the secretary of the Jersey Communist Party began to address a meeting with the word “comrades,” he was pelted with tomatoes, seaweed and gravel. A crowd armed with horsewhips and water-pistols chased the secretary and other Communists who sought refuge at the police station. The police used batons to keep the crowd back. Windows were smashed and other damage done at the local Communist headquarters.
