WEST COAST TEAM TO PLAY TOURING SOUTHLAND SIDE
The selectors, Messrs W. Williams, R. R. King and B. Kelly have chosen the following . West Coast players lor special training for the match against the Southland Subunions’ representatives at Hokitika on August 28: — Backs: —J. Lindbom (Cob), E. G. Walker (Ex), R. Breeze (St M), P. Hurren (Kiwi), W. Hamilton (Celtic), R. Stoop (Kiwi), W. Amberger (Ex), D. Steel 'Star), R. Bretherton (Ex').
Forwards: 'G. Nelson (Star), R. Eastgate (K.), B. Mettrick (Cob), A. Panther (Blaketown), M. Wells (Ex), A. McLean (K.), R. Breslin (Inangahua), J. Hagan (Blaketown), Ivl. Herrick (Cob) P. Eastgate (K), W. Hornby (Cob). Training for all Greymouth members commences tomorrow afternoon at Rugby Park. K. Fisher and M. Lines who have played in the last two provincial matches have been dropped, and J. Robinson, D. Dewar and Ron Wieblitz, who were among the emergencies for the West Coast team which played Canterbury at Christchurch, are also not included. Newcomers to the team are W. Hamilton, who was dropped after playing against Canterbury at Greymouth, R. Bretherton, D. Steel, M. Wells (who played against Buller at Westport and also in part of the Canterbury match at Greymouth), J. Hagen and A. McLean. Both Hagan and McLean have previously been chosen this season, but neither played. McLean because of injury and Hagan because of illness. The Inangahua forward R. Breslin, was an emergency for the West Coast team at Christchurch.
