ST BEDE’S TEAM TOO STRONG FOR WESTLAND JUNIORS

The St Bede’s College (Christchurch) first fifteen defeated a Westland junior representative team at Hokitika on Saturday by 19 points to 9, after the teams had been level, 3all, at half-time. The college team gave a bright display with crisp passing and good handling and straight running by the backs and constructive play by the forwards. Westland were soundly beaten in the last 20 minutes of the game.

Tries were scored for the winners by M. D. Harley (2), W. Cadogan, J. C. McCarthy and E. J. Heenan. Heenan and E. J. Kelleher each converted one try. A. Wallace kicked two goals from penalties and N. Gardyne one goal, from a penalty for Westland juniors.
