MOTORIST KILLED IN BRIDGE ACCIDENT
(P.A.) NELSON, June 27. When a car he was driving struck the buttress of a concrete bridge on the State highway at Stoke about 11.40 p.m. yesterday, Alexander Moffett Squires, a dental surgeon, aged 39, of Nelson, was killed. The car was badly damaged, the driver being crushed between the seat and the steering wheel. He suffered a fractured neck and a fractured skull. Squires was travelling alone. . It is understood he was going to stay with a friend for some quail shooting today. He was a member of the Nelson Acclimatisation Society’s council. He was married, with five young children between the ages of one and 10 years. . ' .
