Meaning of "Lawful Issue” The question whether the term “grandchildren, lawful issue of my sons and daughters, used in a will includes legally adopted children was the main point submitted for the decision of Mr Justice Gresson in an application for interpretation of a will heard by him at Auckland. The will was that of-Edward Alien, a farmer, who died in August. 1936, leaving a separate fund of about £7OOO to provide an annuity to his widow and on her' death to “such of my grandchildren, lawful issue of my sons and daughters.” Two of his children have each adopted a child. After hearing argument his Honor said he would examine the papers and determine what was the proper order to make.
