People Blown Over In Invercargill Streets By Gale

Two of the persons blown over were admitted to hospital. Electric wires were broken and as repairs could not be finished before darkness power was not restored in the suburbs tonight. Fences, radio masts, and aerials were blown down. No work was possible on the Bluff waterfront today. Three men were admitted to hospital with injuries suffered during the storm. They are: W. A. Ott, aged 74, concussion and fractured shoulder; A. J. Pope, aged 77, concussion and lacerations;. W. E. Pulley, concussion and bruises. Messrs Ott and Pope were blown over in the street. Mr Pulley was cycling behind a motor-lorry when the wind lifted part of a load of wallboard from the lorry and knocked him off his cycle.
