YACHTING CAPTAIN COX CUP WON BY POPEYE

Popeye, sailed by A. Kroening, yesterday won the final race in the Captain Cox Cup series conducted by the Greymouth Yachting Club. Yesterday’s race was a re-sail of the event which was held several weeks ago. ' In that event one yacht capsized and two others withdrew from the race to go to its assistance. As these yachts had no chance in the race, it was decided to hold the final again yesterday. The Freitas Cup, for forward hands, was won comfortably by Listless, sailed by L. Paul. The fourth and final races in the Messenger Cup series were also sailed during the week-end and resulted in a win for Lanoma, skippered by M. Wilde, with an aggregate of 380 points. Marilyn was second with 330, and Sinbad (316.4) was third.
